A key material with a clearer circular route
EPS is one of BEWI Connect’s core focus areas. We work with EPS across supply, trading, logistics, and circular pathways – helping connect material streams to more practical downstream use.
MATERIAL FOCUS EPS
Our deepest material competency
Expanded polystyrene is one of the most widely generated recyclable materials — and one of the most logistics-intensive to move. It's up to 98% air by volume, which means preparation and densification directly determine whether recovery is commercially viable at all. BEWI Connect combines trading expertise, material knowledge, and logistics execution across the full EPS route.

What makes EPS different
Volume-sensitive by nature
EPS is mostly air. A 53-foot trailer of loose EPS holds around 1,000 lbs — the same trailer densified carries 35,000 lbs or more. That ratio determines whether recycling the material is economically viable at all.
Densification is the enabling step
Cold compaction and thermal densification convert bulky foam into compact, tradeable blocks. The method affects density, downstream acceptance, and transport economics. We help suppliers and buyers understand which approach fits their situation.
Active downstream demand
Recovered EPS moves into rGPPS production, new EPS manufacturing, insulation materials, and construction composites. The infrastructure is there — connecting supply to the right buyer is where the route gets built.
The logistics challenge is the business case
EPS recycling economics are determined before material ever reaches a buyer. Densification level, source cleanliness, and transport distance shape whether a trade makes financial sense. A well-prepared, densified stream from a consistent source is a different commercial proposition than loose mixed foam from a dispersed collection network. We understand that difference — and build routes accordingly.
EPS recycling explained
Why BEWI Connect is strong in EPS
EPS material expertise
We understand densification methods, downstream specifications for rGPPS production, how fish box EPS differs from construction EPS, and what makes one stream commercially viable while another isn't.
Active buyer and supplier network
We maintain trading relationships across EPS generators, processors, and downstream manufacturers. When a stream is ready, there's somewhere for it to go.
Logistics execution
From collection planning and densification guidance to transport coordination and cross-border documentation, we handle the operational layer that most traders don't.
BEWI Group's industrial backing
BEWI produces EPS and uses recycled content in its own manufacturing. That industrial context gives us a different depth of understanding than a purely commercial trader.
How EPS actually moves
EPS is generated at fish processing facilities, packaging operations, construction sites, and distribution centres. It's collected loose or compacted on-site, transported to densification or directly to processors, and converted into rGPPS granulate, new EPS bead, or construction input materials. Each step affects quality, cost, and which buyers will accept it. We work across that chain.

Sell EPS
If you generate EPS from fish processing, packaging, construction, or logistics operations, we help you find buyers and manage the route.

Buy EPS
If you source EPS for rGPPS processing, new EPS production, or other downstream applications, we help identify and secure supply that matches your specification.

EPS recycling explained
How EPS moves from collection and densification through to downstream use — the practical steps, the quality requirements, and what determines commercial viability.
From waste stream to recycled feedstock
Recovered EPS is the feedstock for rGPPS — recycled general-purpose polystyrene used in injection moulding, new EPS production, and construction materials. EPS recycling rates are above 40% in Europe and over 30% in North America, with infrastructure expanding. The gap isn't demand — it's connecting consistent, well-prepared supply to the right downstream channel.
